Christmas lights can transform your home for the holiday season. Does anything beat that comfortable glow against the cold winter snow or in your tree? If you’re still using your incandescent bulbs, though, it’s time to switch things up and deck the halls with LEDs!
Safe
One of the best things about LED Christmas lights is that they don’t get hot, which means they’re safe to use in your tree, wreaths, garlands, and decorative displays. Additionally, you can safely string together multiple sections of LEDs without them becoming a fire hazard, whereas with traditional lights you’re limited to 4-5 sets. Now you can leave your lights on all day long without worrying about fire safety (you should still water your tree, though)!
Energy Efficient
Christmas just got a little less expensive. In comparison with their incandescent cousins, LEDs can last up to 25 times longer and use 75% less electricity! This means that they’ll pay for themselves within a couple of years, just through the energy savings. If you want to really improve your energy usage, using a timer is a great way to do it. Attaching a timer to your LED lights ensures your lights are only on when you want them to be, and you’ll never have to worry about forgetting them.
Long Lasting
Say goodbye to replacing bulbs! LED lights last up to 10 times longer than regular strings of Christmas lights, and typically don’t burn out. In fact, they’re rated for 25,000 to up to 100,000 hours, which is a big improvement from the estimated 3,000 hour regular bulbs. Additionally, since they’re not made with filaments or glass, they’re more durable and shock-resistant than traditional bulbs.
In Your Home
When you switch out your Christmas lights, consider switching out the bulbs in the rest of your home, too. If you can save on your energy bill over Christmas just by switching your string lights, imagine what you could save during the rest of the year by switching the bulbs in your whole house! LED bulbs aren’t as costly as they used to be, and the savings you’ll notice make the investment worth it. Next time you need to replace a bulb, pick up an LED one. Chances are you won’t be replacing that bulb again any time soon.
